Get Rid Of Cold Sores
by Denny Bodoh

Are you looking for help to get rid of cold sores?

Now you can get rid of cold sores using some very effective well-proven cold sore treatment methods that have emerged through much trial and error.

First, let's look at how the herpes virus works and what activates it.

Cold sores are the end result of many cells destroyed by the reproduction process of the herpes simplex virus type one or type two.  Cold sores are usually on the face but can appear anywhere the virus can initially get through the skin.  It is not uncommon to see them on a cheek, arm or fingers.

Because the herpes virus cannot reproduce on its own, it enters cells and forces them to create its offspring.  Once the cells are full or exhausted, the controlling herpes virus then destroys the cell to release the new virus.  The deep cold sore ulcer then appears.

Normally the virus is dormant and hiding in the root cells of a nerve fiber.  Stress of any sort can trigger the activation of the herpes virus.  Because it lives in your nerves, it immediately senses that conditions are right for replication.

Stress causes changes in your body.  These changes work together to cause cold sores.  Hormone imbalance, fast burning of essential vitamins, weakening of your immune system and a tendency for your body to become acidic are a few of the important changes.

Your body can get rid of cold sores on its own, without any additional cold sore treatment.  But you can shorten the duration time by up to 80% with some simple cold sore treatment tactics.

To get rid of cold sores quickly and easily, here are some basic and powerful things you can do right now.

  • COLD AND HOT.

Sounds too simple, but ice can slow or stop the progression of a cold sore.  You will enjoy the best results the quicker you act.

At the very first itching or tingling that is your early warning of a pending cold sore attack, apply ice or other cold object.  This often will delay a a cold sore and sometimes even stop it altogether if you combine this with one or more other cold sore treatments.

Ice will greatly reduce the discomfort, swelling and heat caused by the herpes activity.

But use caution.  In spite of the pain relief, using ice after the sore breaks open will greatly slow the healing process.  You see, it drives the healing blood away from the wound.

Now you need to use heat to get rid of cold sores from this point on.

The best method of applying heat is to boil water on the stove or in the microwave, then soak some tea bags in the water a few minutes.  Hold the warm tea bags on the sore for 15 minute sessions.

Not only will the warmth give you comfort and much faster healing, but the tea itself contains some anti-virus properties that will chase away the virus.

  • AMINO ACIDS LYSINE AND ARGININE.

Arginine a protein (amino acid) that fuels the creation of new virus.  Arginine is essential for the herpes simplex virus to successfully accomplish the replication process.  It is a common amino acid found in many foods.  It has many good uses in the body, such as reducing blood pressure better than most conventional medicines.  It is an essential amino acid.

But it also is the main protein in herpes virus particles.  In fact, without sufficient arginine, a cold sore will not happen.  You can accomplish this in two ways.  First, reduce intake of arginine by avoiding foods such as nuts, seeds and grains.  Secondly, increase your intake of lysine.

Lysine also is a very common protein, present in many everyday foods.  It too has many good uses and is considered an essential amino acid.  And it truly is a life-saver for you and I and all cold sore herpes victims.

Lysine and arginine are not the best of friends however.

They fight over the same storage space in your cells.  The more lysine in your diet, the more lysine and less arginine will fill that space.

This is the ideal situation if you tend to get a lot of cold sores because the lysine keeps the arginine in short supply preventing its availability for herpes replication.

It is similar to putting water on a fire.  Lysine cannot be used as a protein for building new cold sore virus.  It smothers a cold sore at any stage.

You can get additional lysine by increasing your intake of dairy products, particularly Wisconsin-made cheeses.  But this isn't always easy or convenient - especially for those who can't use dairy products.

Actually the very best way to get additional lysine into your system is by the use of lysine supplement capsules.  They are very cheap and easy to find in most store vitamin sections.  And this way you can adjust the dosage much more accurately to fit your needs.

It is a very safe protein.  Many folks use six to ten 500 mg. capsules per day during or just prior to an outbreak.

3.  ACID OR ALKALINE.

Your body is at it at its healthiest and most disease resistant when it is slightly alkaline.  The ideal level is 7.35 to 7.45 on the pH scale.

Stress, such as illness, cold weather or injury causes the body to move into the acid zone - usually between 5.5 to 6.9 on the pH scale.  This makes your body far less resistant to bacteria, fungus or virus infections.

Reducing the affects of stress can help greatly.  Getting plenty of the stress vitamins B and C is an important step in protecting your body from these problems.

Your body will always try to stay at the ideal alkaline level.  It uses calcium for this purpose.  When you get older, you are more often in the acid range and your body will rob calcium from your bones in an attempt to keep you healthy.  That is how important to your health and life it is.

The key here is to give your body what it needs - a lot of minerals, especially calcium.  Calcium rich foods and supplements are important.

A high quality vitamin supplement will provide optimal amounts of the vitamins and minerals you need.  If your vitamins do not provide at least 1000 mg. of calcium, you are being cheated.  Go to a real vitamin store - in person or on-line - for top quality vitamins.

And keep in mind these only are designed to supplement a good diet.  Cabbage products are one of the top providers of rapidly absorbed calcium.  Another great source is canned fish with the bones included - like salmon.

There are many other cold sore treatment tactics to get rid of cold sores but these are the basics without which nothing else will work very well.

If you want, and make an effort to try and combine different remedies you will be able to get rid of cold sores for good.
